Coronavirus & Tax Update - 4/15/20

Coronavirus Communications for Our Clients and Friends

Protecting you and our staff

We understand that everyone is concerned about Coronavirus. And we are as well, which is why we are taking precautions to keep our clients and our staff safe. We have implemented the following procedures to help prevent the spread of any infection to our office or from our office to our clients:

  • Our business is built on the cloud and our staff is being encouraged to utilize that technology to work remotely.
  • We have canceled all in-person appointments and are instead offering:
  • Meetings via telephone; or
  • Meetings via Zoom video conferencing. We prefer Zoom as we can share our screen with you and can review documents just as if we were together in person. All that is required is a computer with a microphone and speakers. Most laptops will work just fine for this purpose.
  • In terms of receiving information/documents from our clients, we are requesting that it either be uploaded through our portal system, mailed or faxed. If you need assistance navigating the portal system, please feel free to give us a call and we can walk you through it. Alternatively, there is a mail slot in the front door, and you can slide your physical documents through there. We will be letting newly received physical documents sit for at least four days before processing.
  • In terms of providing information/documents/tax returns to our clients, we are going to be utilizing electronic delivery through our portal system or will be mailing items via the mail or similar delivery services. Upon receipt of documents from our office, we suggest letting them sit for at least four days prior to reviewing.

While the implementation of these procedural changes is designed with safety in mind, they are not without cost. Specifically, a loss in production. We simply will not be able to process as many tax returns before 4/15 as we have in past years. Fortunately, the federal government and the state of Indiana have extended the time to pay balances due on 2019 returns from 04/15 until 07/15. They have also extended the time to pay the 1st Quarter Estimated 2020 payment from 04/15 until 07/15.In addition, we highly recommend that you visit the Indiana Health Department website for current guidelines on good hygiene practices to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and other respiratory diseases http://www.state.in.us/isdh/. Our main focus is the continued good health of everyone!
